I'd never even heard of this book...

but as part of my continuing fascination with pointless quizzes;

You're Love in the Time of Cholera!

by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

Like Odysseus in a work of Homer, you demonstrate undying loyalty by sleeping with as many people as you possibly can. But in your heart you never give consent! This creates a strange quandary of what love really means to you. On the one hand, you've loved the same person your whole life, but on the other, your actions barely speak to this fact. Whatever you do, stick to bottled water. The other stuff could get you killed.

I'd heard of this book, though I'll admit I haven't read it and I rather prefer your result to my own! :)

Hi Pamela,

I'd be rather flattered to be compared to a dictionary as my mental faculties are fading fast.

I've read "One Hundred Years of Solitude" quite recently and enjoyed it so maybe I should try "Love in the time of Cholera" as it probably would match my age and disposition rather well.

Yes, I would be quite happy if the inference were merely that I have a large vocabulary and retain a lot of information. Sadly, I think it also infers the know-it-all, long-winded and boring aspects.

Despite which, I'm also finding it more and more difficult to keep the old thought train on the rails these days! :)

Ah, I keep meaning to read One Hundred Years of Solitude, but never quite seem to get around to it. It was because a Venezuelan friend was reading that (clearly enthused and passionately explaining its significance to me), many years ago, that I'd even heard of Gabriel García Márquez and also Love in the Time of Cholera. And, of course, after so many years in the Canary Islands, whose history and that of those two countries are so intrinsically linked.
